Somer AC Youth Cheddar Run Camp -June 10th – June 11th 2023
To cover everyone involved with Somer AC along with those taking part in this weekend away adventure, Somer AC has compiled risk assessments for both the Camping element and the race day alongside the event organisers (Relish Running Events). All our regular Coaches (5) will be available onsite through the duration of the event to ensure everything goes well. Risk assessments are available upon request.

Our plan is to meet at the campsite (for those Camping) approx. 3pm on the 10th June to set up camp in our designated and segregated Somer AC section away from others that may be camping., our flag will be flying as a meeting/camp locator.
Parents are welcome to join us for camping if they or their child would prefer. The camp site (Warren Farm) is open exclusively for camping at the Top Of The George for this weekend only as part of the Relish event. The camping is wild (ish) with toilets/showers and water available. Once everyone has arrived and set up camp we would look at leading a gentle group run exploring the Gorge for those that wish to, others have option off a walk or games at the camp site. Upon returning to camp we would look at having a group BBQ / Food followed by some campsite fun and games before turning in for the night. For those wishing to just attend the Cheddar Gorge Omnium (Bronze) events, these start from 10:00 on the 11th June from the same location and we would encourage those joining us to meet up by 09:00 as to ensure everyone is ready. If anyone wishes to join for Saturday but not stay overnight this is also possible.
The event itself is split into 4 sections, for which all athletes are more than capable of.
*100mtr Sprint. Flat (ish)
*1km Middle Distance Run.
*A Hill Climb approx. 50mtr Elevation gain and roughly 500mtr
** 6KM Endurance Trail Run
* Set off in Pairs at 30 – 60 second intervals ** Mass start
The coaches will also be competing with/alongside the athletes.
List price For the Omnium Is £50, However, we have secured a discount based on numbers with Somer AC subsidizing this event further for members. This all making the event outstanding value at ONLY £15!
Please note if you commit to this weekend and do not attend, the Club would require reimbursement unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
