The second of our championship events for September is the revised and rebranded Mells Scenic
The Mells Scenic Race (previously the Mells Scenic 7) is back for 2023! This years event is still around 7 miles, but is a slightly different route, the start and end of the route are the same, but in the middle runners will go along part of the cycle path from Great Elm to Mells, rather than going over Barrow Hill, it is still a beautiful route with a few hills! The race will take place on Sun 24 Sep 2023.
The route will be a mix of footpath/bridleway, cycle path and quiet country lanes. The race starts and finishes in the historic village of Mells, near Frome. The course will be marked and marshalled.
The race will start at 1100 from the Mells Cricket Club (parking will be available). The Cricket Club entrance can be found off Longfield, Mells, BA11 3PZ. Toilets will be available and there is an area where bags can be left at runners own risk. Race numbers will be issued on the day from 0930 and there will be a race briefing at 1045. After the race, tea and cakes will be on sale. Each runner who finishes the race will recieve a small memento.
Due to short on-road sections and narrow paths in places, dogs are not allowed.
Headphones can be worn, but runners are to be aware of traffic on the small road sections.
Entrants must be 18 years of age on the day of the race.
Please note this course can be slippery and muddy in places.
