A handicapped 5K is a fun and inclusive race format designed to level the playing field, giving everyone—regardless of pace—a fair shot at crossing the finish line first. Runners start at different times based on their previous 5K performance or predicted finish time. The slower runners set off first, followed by progressively faster runners, with the aim that everyone finishes around the same time.
It’s all about strategy, pacing, and friendly competition. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just getting started, a handicapped 5K offers a great opportunity to test yourself, chase down other runners, and enjoy a unique race-day experience.
The first runner to cross the finish line wins—so it’s not about who’s the fastest overall, but who runs the smartest race on the day!
We'll use the ‘winter’ 5k TT route for this, so meet at Norton Hill school and we'll head over to Westfield Industrial Estate.
PLEASE SIGN UP BY 5PM ON THE DAY TO ALLOW US TO INPUT YOUR ESTIMATED FINISH TIME.
